June 2008 Update

There has been a steady flow of visitors to the centre since its official opening at the end of May.

When visiting St Peter's you will be able to view a variety of heritage displays as well as the church itself, with its medieval marble font, and architectural features, and modern features, such as the new South Porch gate.

Displays in the church include:

• The Ipswich Millenium Charter Hangings, produced by people of the town to celebrate the millennium
• Information about the church and other churches in the area, by the Ipswich Historic Churches Trust who look after and maintain churches in the town
• Information from the Over Stoke History Group, a group with local knowledge of the Stoke area of Ipswich, which St Peter's is part of
• Information from the Ipswich Maritime Trust. The church once served as one of the churches for mariners, due to its close vicinity to the water front

As well as being a heritage centre, St Peter's is also a concert venue and rehearsal hall and is the home of The Ipswich Hospital Band, who practice regularly and will hold concerts throughout the year. Please check the events section of the site for more information.

St Peter's is open Monday to Thursday every week, between 10.00am and 3.30pm, with free live music Wednesday lunchtimes.
