In April 2006 the Heritage Lottery fund awarded the Ipswich Hospital Band £772,000 to enable the refurbishment of St Peter's Church Ipswich - one of the redundant Mariners Churches adjoining an area which is currently undergoing extensive redevelopment - and convert it to a centre for Music and the Arts.
Further financial assistance was given by Ipswich Borough Council, and the Ipswich Historic Churches Trust, the balance of the total cost of refurbishment came from our own fundraising.
On Saturday 24th May 2008 The Ipswich Hospital Band held the inaugural concert at the venue, this was compéred by Roger Fern, former mayor of Ipswich.
There is live music in St Peter's every Wednesday lunchtime, which is free for visitors to listen to while exploring the centre.
The venue is available for hire for events and rehearsals. Please contact the centre manager Bernard Westren on 07717 398296 for more information
